David Gandy attacks BA after he is split from daughter on ‘oversold’ flight

David Gandy launched a scathing attack on British Airways after he was separated from his young daughter on an “oversold” flight.

Britain’s highest-paid male model was travelling with his girlfriend Stephanie Mendoros, a barrister, and their two children back to London from Marrakech, when their allocated seats “disappeared”.

Taking aim at BA on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday night, the 44-year-old wrote: “Me: so @‌British_Airways you have oversold the flight. Seats allocated to us have disappeared and you think its ok for my 2 year old to be sat on her own next to a stranger? What if there’s an emergency.

“BA: well nothing we can do so yes its ok. COME on BA you can do better than this.”

In a reply on the social media site, BA said: “Hi, please send us your booking reference via DM along with as much information as possible so we can take a closer look. We’ll also need you to confirm your full name and contact details. We may need to ask you a few more questions for data protection.”

BA later apologised over the incident and said it was launching an investigation “so we can understand how it happened”.

Gandy, who is reportedly worth £12 million, was on holiday in the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech.

In photos posted on Instagram before the flight back to the UK, he said: ‘From the totally private pools to the oasis of serenity of 20 hectares of olive groves and gardens, mountain views to the small farm for the children and just 10 minutes away from the famous Medina.

“I can’t say enough about the @‌mo_marrakech resort and the incredible team that looked after my family and I.”

In June, James Corden appeared to confront a BA employee after his flight from the Algarve was forced to stop in Lisbon, while in 2022, Elizabeth Hurley claimed she was “stranded” in Antigua airport when her flight was delayed.

A BA spokesman said: “We’re very sorry this happened and are investigating so we can understand how it occurred. We’ll also be reaching out to our customer to put it right.”
