PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Much of the region is under a winter storm warning, including parts of northeastern North Carolina and eastern and southern Virginia.

With the threat of severe winter weather, many schools have canceled after school activities. Find the full list of closures and delays below. The list will be updated as more closures come in.

Camden County

Camden Parks & Recreation youth basketball practices scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been canceled.

All convenience sites (South Mills, Camden and Shiloh) will open at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Chesapeake

All Chesapeake public library locations, Parks, Recreation and Tourism Community Centers, the Chesapeake Visitor Center and Chesapeake Animal Services will be closed Saturday and all events scheduled at those locations for Saturday have been canceled.
Currituck County

All after school activities and programs have been canceled for Currituck County Public Schools for Friday.

All games and practices scheduled for Jan. 10-11 will be canceled.

ABC Stores will close at 7 p.m. on Friday and open at 10 a.m. on Saturday

All Currituck Public Library branches will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The College of the Albemarle campuses will close at 8 p.m. on Friday. All Friday evening and Saturday activities have been canceled.

All trash and recycling convenience centers will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and remain open until 7 p.m.

The transfer station will open at 9 a.m. Saturday and remain open until 1 p.m.

The Animal Shelter will be closed on Saturday. It will reopen to the public on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County

All Elizabeth City Pasquotank Public Schools after-school activities have been canceled for Friday and Saturday, including its after-school program with the YMCA and the P.W. Moore 21st Century Program. The Elementary School Basketball Tournament scheduled for Saturday has been canceled. Regular season games will begin Tuesday.

Elizabeth City State University is operating under Condition 1 as of 3 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, meaning the university will remain open, but certain non-mandatory operations may be reduced. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. Other employees may report late, leave early or not work at all but must inform their supervisor. The Wellness Center closed at 3 p.m. Friday and will resume normal operations Monday. Campus dining will operate beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Gloucester County

All after school activities have been canceled for Gloucester County Public Schools for Friday.

The Gloucester County Public Library is closed Saturday.

Gloucester County convenience centers will operate on a two-hour delay and open at 9 a.m. Saturday.

All Gloucester Parks & Recreation games have been canceled Saturday.
Hampton
-
All weekend events will be canceled for Hampton City Schools for Saturday and Sunday. This includes students traveling to games and performances, even if they were scheduled outside Hampton.

Students in grades 5-12 have been asked to take their Chromebook and charger home on Friday due to the possibility of a remote instruction day Monday.

All public libraries, community centers and neighborhood centers will be closed Saturday.

All parks, including Bluebird Gap Farm and Air Power Park, will be closed Saturday.

The Hampton History Museum and the Hampton Visitor Center will be closed Saturday.

The Charles H. Taylor Art Center and the American Theatre will be closed Saturday

The Hamptons and Woodlands golf courses will be closed Saturday.

The Virginia Peninsula Education Foundation (Delta Belta Lam) has moved its Martin Luther King breakfast to Jan. 15, and the Boo Williams Invitational Track Meet has been postponed, with rescheduling underway.

The Fort Monroe Visitor and Education Center and the Casemate Museum will have a delayed opening of 11 a.m. Saturday.
Hampton Roads Transit

Hampton Roads Transit will operate reduced service Saturday. It will operate snow route schedules with limited, hourly bus service from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Tide light rail and Elizabeth River Ferry will operate only every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Some light rail trains will operate without passengers to sweep tracks of snow and ice.

HRT’s paratransit service, OnDemand ridesharing and the Base Express shuttle at Naval Station Norfolk will not operate Saturday.

Updates will be available all weekend at www.gohrt.com or by calling HRT customer service at 757-222-6100 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. Regular service is expected to resume Sunday depending on conditions. Riders are advised to expect delays and impromptu detours.
Isle of Wight County
All after-school extracurricular and athletics activities for Friday will continue as currently planned, but for away games and travel outside the county, all Isle of Wight County Schools buses must be off the road and parked no later than 9 p.m. Friday to allow students and staff enough time to travel home safely. All student/staff travel and IWCS activities are canceled for Saturday.

Four Oaks Day Service Center at 7401 Warwick Blvd. will be open from 5:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. to provide warm shelter and support services for those who experiencing homelessness.

The PORT Winter Shelter operated by LINK of Hampton Roads, offers overnight relief from the cold from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. The current PORT site is First Baptist Church Newport News at 12716 Warwick Blvd. and will be in place through Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Norfolk

The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk will be closed on Saturday.

The Chrysler Museum and Perry Glass Studio will be closed Saturday.

Norfolk Department of Public Health’s mobile vaccine clinic scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.

All city of Norfolk facilities, including recreation centers, libraries, Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center, MacArthur Memorial, Nauticus and The Slover, will be closed Saturday.

Street parking will be removed downtown along Boush Street, Granby Street, Waterside Drive and Main Street starting at 10 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Sunday to allow for plowing. Parking removals may end early if conditions allow.

The York Street Garage will be open for downtown residents and businesses until 9 a.m. Monday.
Naval Station Norfolk

Commissary hours will be from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday

The Navy Exchange Main Store and Package Store will be opening at 11 a.m., and the Mini-Marts will all open at 9 a.m.

Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) — the N-24 gym will close at 11 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 11 a.m. Saturday. Anyone who previously registered and obtained CAC access will be able to enter any Fitness Center on Naval Station Norfolk.

MWR — Pierside Bowling Center will operate under its normal scheduled hours of 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

MWR — Bldg. C-9 Wind & Sea Rec Center will operate under its normal scheduled hours of 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., while the Bldg. Q-80 Wind & Sea Rec Center will operate under its normal scheduled hours of noon to 8 p.m.. The FRP-12 Pool will open at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Northampton County (Va.)

Northampton County Schools will close early at noon Friday.

The Winter Waterfowl Walk at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge has been canceled for Saturday. The Visitor Center may close depending on conditions as the morning progresses.
Williamsburg/James City County
All school-related activities for Saturday and Sunday for Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools are canceled or postponed. Events scheduled for Friday will continued as planned, with activities planned to be finished by 8 p.m.
York County
All athletics and activities have been canceled on Saturday for York County Public Schools.

People are asked to avoid entering the school parking lots to allow division staff to properly clear parking lots and sidewalks.
