Delray issues precautionary boil water notice for some residences after

DELRAY BEACH — City officials in Delray Beach issued a precautionary boil water notice this week because of a water main break.

The notice, issued by the Delray Beach Utilities Department at about 6 p.m. Tuesday, said properties in the affected area would experience an interruption in service while repairs were being made.

“As a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled,” the notice said. “A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.”

The notice will remain in effect until a rescission notice is issued, according to city officials. Typically, these notices remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours, or until required bacteriological test results meet the requirements set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Florida Department of Health, and test samples have been submitted to state officials.
