Dow Opens Higher as It Bids to Snap Longest Losing Streak Since 1978

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened higher on Wednesday ahead of the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision. The blue-chip index is looking to snap its longest losing streak since 1978.

The Dow was up 88 points, or 0.2%. The S&P 500 was down 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was falling 0.1%.

The Dow has fallen in nine-straight sessions. A 10-day streak would be the index’s longest since it fell in the 11 days that ended Oct. 4, 1974, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
