In today’s episode, Nigel went to see Phil at the garage ahead of his date with his new friend Norma that day, but Phil didn’t want to talk.

Yolande and Patrick got him ready for the big date and the pair encouraged him to go when he threatened to cancel his plans.
At The Vic, Phil came in for a drink while Nigel nervously met up with Norma. She had brought her friend Livi along, so Nigel suggested that Phil join them too.
While Nigel tried his best to keep spirits up on the double date, Phil’s low mood was impossible to ignore, and he refused to engage with anyone.

Livi recognised that Phil was struggling and opened up about her own past. Phil got visibly emotional, then smashed a glass and walked out of the pub in tears.
Outside, Phil ran into Amelia, the sex worker who lives in Junior’s building, and she gave him her card. Nigel then confronted him, but Phil told his friend to stop trying to help him.

Phil then went to the garage and told Harry to go home. He looked at Amelia’s card but decided against it, before finishing the car that Harry was working on.
In distressing scenes, Phil got into the car and started the engine, in an attempt to end his own life.

Meanwhile, Nigel was distracted, as his date with Norma had gone well and she invited him to have dinner together.
Phil was seen coughing and spluttering in the car, as he eventually changed his mind and decided to get out of the car. But in his disorientated state, he fell into the pit and lay motionless on the ground.
Will Phil be okay, and will his loved ones discover his suicide attempt?
