EastEnders has confirmed Elaine Peacock’s heartbreaking family secret in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Elaine’s hen night took place ahead of her wedding to George, and Johnny booked a drag queen called Drew Peacock for the entertainment.
But when Drew got on stage, it quickly became clear that Elaine knew him, and she screamed at him to get out of the pub.

In today’s episode, Linda and Johnny wanted to know what had just happened, but Elaine was reluctant to speak about it. A drunk Linda wandered out the pub after Drew to find answers.
Linda found Drew in the laundrette waiting for a cab, and he realised who she was. It seemed that Drew knew Linda when she was a child, and he told her to go to Elaine to get the truth.
She returned to the pub to confront Elaine again, who decided to tell her and Johnny the truth – saying that the story concerns Linda’s late father John.

Elaine explained that for most of their marriage, John was in a relationship with someone else. She found out after a couple of years, and let him carry on the relationship to keep their family together.
Johnny realised what she was saying before Linda did, as Elaine confirmed that John was a gay man and Drew was his secret partner.
Linda refused to believe this, insensitively remarking that John was such a ‘man’, so couldn’t have been gay.
When Elaine suggested that John’s guilt and shame caused the heart attack which killed him, Linda insulted her mother and Elaine slapped her.

Johnny found Linda drinking in her room in a distressed state, and was furious at how badly his mum had reacted to the news.
She refused to see Elaine’s point of view, and Johnny was shocked at her selfishness.
Elaine and Johnny had an emotional chat outside, and as Elaine regretted hitting Linda, Johnny said that his mum didn’t deserve her sympathy.
They took a walk through the Square, where they found Drew having a drink at Walford East.
Johnny encouraged Elaine to talk to Drew – but how will their conversation go?
