Oct. 2—The Pittsburg County Election Board will be sponsoring a voter registration booth Thursday afternoon at Walmart prior to the Oct. 11 registration deadline to vote in the November elections.
Workers from the Election Board will be at Walmart from 1-6 p.m. Oct. 3. The store is located at 432 S. George Nigh Expy. in McAlester.
To register to vote in Oklahoma, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the State of Oklahoma, and at least 18 years old or older.
Eligible applicants who are at least 17 1/2 years old may pre-register to vote but must be 18 years old to vote.
All applicants must have their application approved by the County Election Board Secretary before they can vote in any election.
Those interested in registering to vote in Pittsburg County should be prepared to provide general information including their residence address, along with their Oklahoma driver’s license number/state ID number or the last four-digits of their Social Security number.
Voters who have moved to Pittsburg County from another county will need to complete a new Voter Registration Application and should be prepared to provide their previous voter registration address in order for their old registration to be cancelled.
The Pittsburg County Election Board also encourages voters who need to update their registration to attend this special event.
The next election will be on Nov. 5 and will feature the Presidential General Election and other local and state elections.
New voter registration and updates to current registrations can be done in person at the Election Board office, online at oklahoma.gov/elections, or at any motor vehicle agency that is also an official voter registration agency.
Applicants will be notified in writing when their application has been processed. Approved voters will receive a voter identification card in the mail. Some may receive a letter that explains the reason or reasons the application was not approved.
