Emmerdale Cain Dingle exit ‘sealed’ 24 years after debut in heartbreaking Zak twist

Emmerdale‘s Cain Dingle could be saying his goodbyes to the village.

The soap legend, played by Jeff Hordley, made his debut way back in 2000. And it didn’t take him long to become one of the soap’s iconic and beloved characters.

Over the years, he’s been involved in several big storylines too – from family drama to murder, his time in the Dales has not been short of drama. That’s especially true at the moment, as Cain has been clashing with partner Moira (Natalie J. Robb) over the drama involving his nephew Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) and her son Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano).

Under pressure from bully and troublemaker Josh (Osian Morgan), Samson gave a false statement to the police about being stabbed by Matty. This ended up in him doing a stint in prison.

But despite Samson eventually confessing the truth and getting sent to jail, things have still been seriously tense between the fan-favourite couple Moira and Cain.

What’s more, his half-sister Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) has also had a rough few months. Unbeknownst to everyone, her husband Tom King (James Chase) has been abusing her for months.

Recently though, she called it quits on their marriage and headed up to Scotland to visit dad Zak Dingle, played by Steve Halliwell who sadly died last year.

Now, fans fear that Cain is about to follow suit and leave the village. Over on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “What if…. Cain storms off to Zac and Debbie’s and nurses Zac whilst he dies and then stays to run the business up there.”

Other fans were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section, with another one writing: “Yeah that would be one way of writing him for a little while, don’t want him to go to prison again as they have done this already.”

A third penned: “I think he’s leaving for a bit but he usually comes back after a rest.” Someone else proclaimed: “I hope not! no there would be no point in Emmerdale without Cain.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
