Emmerdale‘s Amy Walsh has opened up about filming new reality series Drama Queens alongside EastEnders star husband Toby-Alexander Smith.

The soap stars, who married last year and welcomed daughter Bonnie in 2021, are both due to appear on the upcoming ITVBe series, which gives fans a glimpse into the lives of a number of soap actresses.

Speaking about working with Toby-Alexander, Amy revealed: “It’s been really nice filming with my husband. He’s really enjoyed it. It doesn’t feel like you’re in a TV show, it just feels like you’re living life.

“It makes you stop and be very present and because you are totally dedicated to that one day, you’re having conversations over dinner that you wouldn’t necessarily choose to….”

However, Amy admitted that it can be “really hard” sometimes given that her husband is a jobbing actor, which requires time away from family.

“You get comfy being the one who goes out to work but then you’ve got this whole other role when that person isn’t there… it is really hard,” she said.

“It’s a juggle being married to a jobbing actor, he’ll go from being at home all the time and then he’ll go off to Bulgaria but when he got that job, I was like, ‘I am not sure we can both do this.’

“We don’t have any help and that’s the hard thing, but I do feel blessed that I have a job and Toby has a job and blessed that we have a baby… I know how lucky I am, and how many actors would love to be in my position.

“It’s such a privileged problem but it makes you think, ‘Can you have it all?’ It feels physically impossible sometimes.”

Amy also revealed that overall it has been “really good, really fun” to take part in the series, and that she and her husband have “been surprised by how easy it feels to have a camera crew in your home”.

“My only real concern was filming with a two-year-old, but Bonnie loves the camera, she’s in her element which is great,” the star added.

Drama Queens will premiere on Wednesday, April 10 at 9pm on ITVBe and ITVX.
