Fans of BBC’s Escape to the Country were left perplexed during the latest episode as a house hunter appeared to spot an issue with a kitchen.
The popular show which sees people make the move to rural living was back for another episode on Thursday (September 5) with host Nicki Chapman at the helm. During the episode, Nicki was on hand to assist first-time buyer Natalie, who currently lived with her parents on the outskirts of Birmingham.
Although Natalie had lived in various cities across the UK, she felt it was time to find her first permanent home in Shropshire. Bringing her mum Ruth along for support, Natalie had a budget of £520,000 to play with.
But while viewing the first property, which had a reasonable-sized kitchen, fans were confused when she labelled it “small”. Natalie said: “The view out of the door and the windows are beautiful and the exposed beams are lovely. Maybe it’s a little smaller than I thought.

Ruth added: “I do agree with everything else. It’s a bit small I think.” Host Nicki tried also to reassure the pair, explaining that there was additional storage as the kitchen included a pantry too.
But fans at home were left confused by the comment and headed over to X formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts. One viewer said: “The kitchen is a bit small???? She’s a single lady… how much kitchen do you need?”
Another echoed: “Small kitchen????? Really!!!” While a third asked: “What’s wrong with it how it is?”
Despite her reservations, Natalie appeared smitten with the living room. But after seeing upstairs, she said: I like it, I don’t feel as ‘wow’ as downstairs.”
Although she appeared to have issues with property number one, it was the second house that caught Natalie’s eye. Entering the property, Natalie and Ruth were lost for words as they labelled it as perfect.
At the end of the show, Natalie told Nicki that she was ready to view the place for a second time and potentially make an offer. But unfortunately, it was later revealed that someone else put down an offer that was accepted by the seller.
Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
