Escape to the country star shuts down buyer after ‘cheeky offer’ on property

Escape to The Country star Jules Hudson was quick to shut down ideas of a potential offer after a buyer appeared to go too low.

On Wednesday afternoon’s show (July 17), Jules was back venturing through rural England to find the perfect property for a couple who longed for a slower-paced life. Assisting Helen and Paul in their search for a stunning home, the trio headed to North and West Yorkshire.

The married pair who originate from West Sussex was given an opportunity to relocate and thought now was the perfect time. Helen and Paul had a budget of £750,000 and were looking for a detached home with a spacious interior.

The second home that the couple visited was in Kirkburton, located between the cities of Leeds and Manchester. While having a look through the spacious property with Jules on hand to guide them, the pair were impressed with the stunning modern interior and gorgeous layout.

But when Jules asked Helen and Paul what they thought about the large three-bedroom house which included an opulent garden area, he was rather taken aback by Helen’s offer prediction. He asked: “What do you reckon?”

Helen replied: “I’m going to give you a hopeful, £700,000.” Stunned Jules, huffed in utter disbelief and then said: “Yeah, hopeful!”

Meanwhile, Paul put down a more respectable offer of £735,000. Jules then said: “£735,000 up against your very cheeky £700,000. Well here’s the thing, I’m afraid you’re both wrong.

“This is going to push you all the way, it’s offers in the region of £750,000. So I admire the optimism, but it is offers in the region of, who knows maybe the cheeky offer that’s respectable might allow you the change to do that,” he explained.

Later on in the show, keen buyers Paul and Helen were ready to go back and look at property number two. Even though it didn’t include everything they wanted, Helen explained it had “a lot of family space”.

Surprised by their turnaround, Jules said: “Guys well I’m absolutely delighted! I’ll be honest with you, there were moments this week when I didn’t know if we would get there. You did play your cards close to your chest!”
