LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The man accused of killing his girlfriend days before Christmas appeared in North Las Vegas Justice Court Thursday morning for his arraignment. Following the arraignment, a physical confrontation occurred outside the courtroom that resulted in the murder victim’s father being placed in handcuffs.
Renise Wolfe, 33, was found with gunshot wounds in her apartment Sunday. Her boyfriend, Markeem Benson, 29, was taken into custody later that day. Prosecutors said Benson shot Wolfe four times in the back of her head at an apartment on E. Rome Boulevard near Centennial Parkway and 5th Street.
The physical confrontation resulted in Wolfe’s father, a retired Metro police officer, being placed in handcuffs after charging Benson’s brother. Wolfe family members said a man was taunting them in court.
A judge denied giving Benson bail during his first court appearance because he was on probation for attempted robbery when he was arrested.

Wolfe’s family said the two had only been dating for five months.
