Fire crews spring into action after plane catches fire at Lebanon County airport

LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– Volunteer fire crews were dispatched to Deck Airport in Lebanon early this morning after a small aircraft caught fire on the runway.

Chief 31 of Keystone Hook & Ladder Company and their crew (E31) arrived at the scene shortly after 4 a.m. to find the front of a small aircraft ignited in flames on the end of the runway.

According to Keystone Hook and Ladder, the aircraft had trouble departing before a working engine compartment fire engulfed its nose. The passengers quickly exited the plane, avoiding injuries.

E31 placed the fire under control shortly after arriving at the scene. Hook and Ladder Crew’s R31 and W31 assisted with the engine and lighting.
