A fire destroyed a church in Chester County Thursday night, according to reports from Richburg Fire-Rescue.
It occurred at Mount Zion AME Zion on Canal Road.
Firefighters said strong winds helped the fire spread.

While no one was hurt, the church is a total loss, according to firefighters.
Pastor Andre Showers told Channel 9′s Tina Terry that he’s full of hope for the future, in spite of what he sees here.
“We will rise from the ashes as the Phoenix does. We will not allow this to take us out and down,” Showers said.
Showers walked through the remains with state investigators on Friday.
“As it stands right now they say it may be caused by electrical issues. It’s not conclusive,” Showers said.
Lando Fire Chief Darius Murphy says several factors, including the wind, made the fire difficult to get under control.

“Fire load, older building — older buildings burn a lot more,” Murphy said.
Pastor Showers says he’s looking past the tragedy and to the future.
“With God’s help we can do any and everything. And we’re gonna stand on that,” he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
