Flames damage building in Dickson City

DICKSON CITY — Firefighters quickly doused flames that damaged a building in the 1300 block of Main Street on Friday evening.

Crews from around the Mid Valley responded to the working structure fire at 1330 Main St. at 4:30 p.m., Fire Chief Rich Chowanec said. Arriving firefighters found smoke coming from the eaves of the building and flames visible in the windows. No one was in the building, which is used for storage by Berger Furniture and Mattress in the same block.

It took firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which originated in the building’s basement, Chowanec said. The building sustained smoke and water damage, he said. No one was injured.
