Florida weather forecast calls for 'liquid sunshine' ... followed

Dig out that umbrella. Many areas across the entire state will need it today, and possibly into tomorrow.

Oh, and then cooler temperatures are expected — yes, again — later in the week.

How much rain depends on where you are, but anywhere from 1 to 2.5 inches is forecast. Some isolated areas could see 4 inches, according to the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

“We expect the heaviest rainfall to fall over parts of South Florida on Monday.”

For some areas, the rain will be welcome relief.

“Florida has only received 1.48 inches of rain this year, specifically for the station located at Miami International Airport. This is below average for this period, with a deficit of over 2.5 inches,” according to the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

Jim Cantore: ‘Liquid sunshine’ heading to Florida

During an overall look across the United States early Monday on X, Jim Cantore, The Weather Channel meteorologist, talked about the wide swing of temperatures in the west and across the northern Plains.

“So last week it was 30-40 degrees below average and now this week its 20-30 degrees above average. Weeeeee.”

Then he turned his attention to Florida:

“Oh and I almost forgot the nice dose of needed liquid sunshine for Florida.”

How much rain is in Florida’s forecast? Some could see up to 4 inches

Storms bringing rain to Florida Feb. 24-25, 2025.

“Overall, we’re expecting a coding of rainfall that could reach 1 inch across North Florida through Central Florida,” according to the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

“Some isolated spots, especially across Central Florida, could reach 2.5 inches. For South Florida, the rainfall could range between one and a half and 2.5 inches. But there could be some isolated amount with 4 inches.

“As this system progresses, expect gradual clearing along the entire Peninsula, improving from north to south Monday night.

“However, South Florida will still experience scattered rain showers overnight on Monday and Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon, the entire Peninsula will be dominated by North winds, which will also bring lower humidity levels and very comfortable temperatures.”

Here’s the forecast timing for rain provided by the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network:

“The Panhandle can expect a few rain showers to move in during the evening and morning hours on Monday.

“By sunrise Monday, some downpours could travel along I-75 from North Florida toward Central Florida.

“By Monday early afternoon, some scattered thunderstorms could be moving along the southern half of Florida, although South Florida would have already received rounds of showers in the morning.

“South Florida is forecast to receive heavier downpours and some isolated intense storms between 11 a.m. and the afternoon. Although we’re not expecting widespread severe weather, some thunderstorms could have damaging wind gusts of 58 mph or more since the bulk of the moisture will travel over South Florida. There could be some areas where flooding develops.”

Another cold front to drop Florida temps as February ends

Another cold front will drop temperatures across Florida for the end of February and beginning of March 2025.

Another cold front is expected to cross Florida Thursday night, reinforcing the cooler and dry air just in time to finish the week, according to the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

“Through the end of the month into the start of March, forecasters warn that temperatures can fluctuate back and forth between bursts of pleasant, springlike values and cold intrusions, as is typical during the transition periods between seasons,” according to AccuWeather.
