Four years after the longtime head soccer coach for Willard High School was arrested on suspicion of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, a trial date has been set — but not until early 2025.
Timothy Glyn Magee was arrested in August 2020, fired from his coaching job and charged with three felony counts of second-degree statutory sodomy. He is scheduled to go to trial Jan. 27.
Magee had been placed on administrative leave earlier in early August 2020 after allegations were made by a former student.
According to a probable cause statement, the victim told Willard police that she met Magee in the spring of 2008 when she was on the high school soccer team, and they began exchanging text messages and phone calls.
In August and September of 2009, the statement says the student went to Magee’s home multiple times on Saturday mornings while his wife was at work and they performed sex acts on one another.
The girl was younger than 17 at the time and could not legally consent to sexual relations with an adult. At the time, Magee was more than twice her age.
According to the statement, when confronted by the allegations, Magee confessed. The News-Leader left a message seeking comment with attorney Stuart Huffman, who represents Magee.
Magee, who still lives in Willard, appeared Wednesday in front of Greene County Judge Jerry Harmison for what was expected to be a pre-trial hearing for a jury trial in late August. However, that Aug. 26 trial was postponed for five months.
A new pre-trial hearing is now set for Jan. 22.

If convicted, Magee faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Hired by the Willard district in 2005, Magee taught special education and physical education. He later stepped away from teaching but was named head boys and girls soccer coach in 2008.
Magee worked for Springfield Public Schools before he was hired in Willard. He was a special education teacher at Weller Elementary in 2002-03 and Hillcrest High School in 2003-05. In 2004-05, he also coached soccer at Hillcrest.
