“I thought I had knocked out the adversary in the first round but I have to get in there again. Round two,” Dawson said Tuesday morning. “I have the backing of the most high God, so I think I’ll be okay.”
Dawson explained that he will be gone from Fox 8 News until the beginning of next year, due to his health concerns and some vacation time for the holidays.
He also said he is going to really miss his Fox 8 family, but is going to “get back in the ring” and do what he has to do.

Wayne posted his first post-surgery update on April 28 to his Instagram page saying, “I underwent a very long but successful 9-hour surgery at the Cleveland Clinic but God was in the operating room guiding the hands of those working on his child,” Dawson wrote alongside a photo of many get well cards and flowers that have been sent to him.
In May, Dawson gave another update to FOX 8 News viewers saying, “The crazy thing is my surgeon said this type of cancer happens in people who chew tobacco, or heavy smokers, or heavy drinkers and I’m none of those. But I found something in my mouth about a year ago.”
Dawson said, he did not follow his dentist’s advice to have a doctor take a closer look and instead another six months passed.
