Jul. 27—July 27, 2014 — Greg Moen, a local scuba diver, has recorded over 480 dives in the last 12 years, sharing his love for the underwater world with his biology students at TrekNorth. Moen has done most of his dives around the Bemidji area, and even in locations as far away as Fiji and Mexico.

July 27, 1999 — Minnesota Department of Corrections Commissioner Sheryl Ramstaad Hvass visited Bemidji as part of a community dialogue series across the state to learn about issues regarding corrections. Concerns including the high recidivism rate on local reservations and the juvenile crime rate in the Bemidji area were discussed.

July 27, 1974 — The Cass Lake Garden Club held a successful “Christmas in July” bazaar at the American Legion Hall, complete with Christmas trimmings, a lighted tree and air conditioning. Terrariums, hanging basket planters, spruce trees, canned goods and bakery items were available for purchase.

July 27, 1924 — The International Transportation Co. announced the opening of a new bus line between Bemidji and International Falls starting this week. The bus will pick up and discharge passengers anywhere along the highway. The towns along this line are Farley, Tenstrike, Hines, Blackduck, Northome, Gemmell, Big Falls and Little Fork.
