Trying to leave the Jersey Shore after the long holiday weekend? It might take a while.
As of 1:10 p.m., delays and pockets of heavy traffic volume are causing slowdowns on the northbound Garden State Parkway, from just north of Exit 82A in Toms River to just south of Exit 102 in Tinton Falls, according to 511nj.org, which tracks traffic on the state’s major roadways.
That amounts to about a 20-mile back-up.
INRIX, a provider of transportation data, said 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today is the worst time to travel by car when returning home from the Jersey Shore. Tomorrow the best time to travel home is after 1 p.m., with the worst times between 8 a.m. and noon.
