Gaza to receive €120 million in humanitarian aid from EU in 2025

The European Union announced on Thursday a humanitarian aid package for Gaza in 2025 worth €120 million ($123.5 million).

“The ceasefire and hostage release agreement offers hope the region desperately needed. But the humanitarian situation remains grim in Gaza,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.

The funding will be directed toward food, water, health care, sanitation support and shelter assistance, the commission said.

“The EU will work closely with UN agencies and other humanitarian partner organisations to ensure swift delivery of the assistance,” a press release said.

The latest announcement brings the total of humanitarian aid pledged by the commission to Gaza since 2023 to a total of over €450 million.

The financial support comes in addition to over 3,800 tons of in-kind donations of humanitarian goods to Gaza in recent months, the commission said.
