Gemma Atkinson has clapped back after leaving a fan of herself and Gorka Marquez ‘horrified’ as the latter shared a video in which Gemma could be seen in the garden of their family home.

Taking to social media, Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka shared a string of snaps and clips from his first week at home in months. The dancer has recently been touring the country with some of his co-stars from the BBC One dance contest in the Strictly The Professionals live tour.

It meant that Gorka, 33, spent eight weeks away from home, with only a flying visit in between during shows in Manchester, and it was clear he was revelling at being back at home with Gemma, 39, and their two young children – Mia, four, and 11-month-old Thiago.

“A week of memories at Home,” he captioned the post on Instagram which featured selfies with Mia, pictures of his breakfast and an adorable image of Thiago, known as Tio for short, ahead of his first birthday next month.

But it was a video of Gemma feeding Freddie, a squirrel she has come to look after, in the garden. She could be seen sporting a vet top and shorts as she encouraged the animal towards her with food in her hand. And that who follow the Hits Radio host will know it’s been going on a while with two more squirrels joining Freddie.

However, responding to the post, one of Gorka’s followers said: “Horrified to see Gemma trying to tame a squirrel. They have a really dangerous bite. Shocking.”

But quick to respond to the post, Gemma clapped back: “I’d feed anything that came to me daily for food. Why would I purposely not want to help feed a little animal? Thank goodness she chose our garden to play in and not yours in that case.”

She then added: “Ps. Yes I would also feed rats. I had two gerbils, 2 hamsters, 6 fish and a dog as a child. All god’s creatures welcome in our house!” And fans were quick to show the mum-of-two their support, branding her ‘Dr Dolittle’.

Meanwhile, it comes after Gorka gave a bit of an insight into his relationship with Gemma Atkinson as he seemingly laughed at the language barrier. The couple met back in 2017 on Strictly where Gorka is a pro and Gemma, at the time, was a contestant, and have since got engaged in 2021.

Taking to Instagram on Thrusday (June 6), Gorka shared a video from The Overlap podcast in which former Manchester United star-turned-pundit Gary Neville was heard talking about being a kid when he’d come home from school, have his tea and later enjoy a fish and chip supper with his family.

While guest Wayne Rooney, who hails from Liverpool, understood the tradition, Ian Wright was more confused and thought Gary was talking about the drink tea as opposed to dinner, reigning the classic north/south debate.

Resharing the video to his Instagram Story, Gorka admitted: “Me for the last 6/ half years with @glouiseatkinson,” adding a string of crying laughing emoji and a face palm emoji. Gemma then posted her fiance’s comments to her own page and said: “Can’t beat a chippy tea!” before adding: “Gorks is slowly learning,” with a winking face emoji.
