German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock pledged German support for France on Friday following arson attacks on the French high-speed rail network overnight.
“The relevant authorities are of course also in close contact in a situation like this,” Baerbock said in Hamburg.
“It shows once again how important European cooperation is, especially when it comes to security issues,” she added.
Baerbock said Germany, which just hosted the European Football Championship, is “enormously grateful to its French partners and friends” adding that both sides “worked so closely together” during the tournament in Germany, especially between police forces in both countries.
“We are providing the same support from the German side for the Olympic Games,” she said.
