Girl, 15, among two arrested after stabbing at London Underground station

A man who was attacked at Seven Sisters London Underground station collapsed at the top of the steps to the station after being stabbed in his side.

CCTV footage seen by The Telegraph shows a man wearing a white T-shirt, black trousers and black shoulder bag staggering to the top of the stairs of the station before falling to the ground and clutching his side near the top of his leg.

One woman, aged 18, and a girl, aged 15, were arrested after the Metropolitan Police were called to the north London station at 8.48am on Tuesday morning following reports of a serious assault.

They were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, with the girl also arrested on suspicion of common assault.

Officers found a man suffering from a stab wound and said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Video footage of the incident shows the victim collapsing to the floor at the top of the station’s steps on Tottenham high road. A few seconds later, a man came out of the station and stopped in front of the victim before appearing to call the police.

In the following moments, witnesses held their heads in apparent shock and crouched down next to the victim, seemingly in an effort to administer first aid.

Approximately a minute later, three police cars arrived on the scene after being waved down by pedestrians, with officers grabbing first aid kits from their vehicles and running over to help the victim.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed to The Telegraph that the stabbing took place at the station itself, not on a tube carriage. A TfL member of staff said they believed the man was attacked between the ticket hall and the exit. Detectives said they are interested in speaking with two men seen leaving the station towards South Tottenham as they believe they may have further information.

One person claimed she was on the way to work when she saw a man “clutching his chest saying he’d been stabbed”.

She told the Hackney Gazette: “Multiple emergency service vehicles arrived on the scene within seconds and he was being resuscitated at the scene at the tube exit nearest to West Green Road. It was horrendous.”

Adam Reay, another witness, told the Gazette: “I saw a paramedic holding a blood bag for the victim at the top of the stairs to the station. I heard they had been attacked.”

A man who said he witnessed the attack claimed that he spoke to the victim before he was stabbed.

The witness, who chose not to give his name, told the Evening Standard: “I said hello to the guy. I know him from the area … I went inside the station and I saw he was bleeding.

“I went to help him. The doctor came, the police came. I saw him bleeding. He couldn’t breathe. He was saying ‘I got stabbed. I got stabbed’.”

The identity of the victim remains unknown, but one neighbouring shop worker said he may be an elderly man who is known for begging in the area.

Jacx, who did not give his full name, works at JJ Fruit and Vegetables outside Seven Sisters station and said his friends witnessed the stabbing.

He told The Telegraph: “They said it was an old white guy with a beard who was begging and hangs out around here.

“My friends were pale-faced. They were so white, they were so scared.”

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Seven Sisters underground station at 8.48am today (July 23) to reports of a serious assault.

“Paramedics also attended and a male has been taken to hospital with injuries that are consistent with being stabbed. His injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

“Two females have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. One has also been further arrested on suspicion of common assault. They remain in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.

“The underground station remains closed while officers investigate, and passengers will see an increased policing presence in the area.
