GMB host left red-faced as co-star ‘goes too far’ with crude innuendo

Good Morning Britain‘s Adil Ray found himself red-faced on Friday’s episode of the ITV programme followng an innuendo by Andi Peters.

In the segment, Andi was detailing the latest competition details and entry methods to the audience. He chose to use props to show how viewers’ competition entries would be grouped.

With a single banana in one hand and a cluster of five in the other, Andi illustrated that one entry would cost £2 while five could be had for £5.

Andi remarked: “So this one here is much better for value. Don’t say I don’t do you favours. I might not be Martin Lewis-“, only to be interrupted by his colleague Adil who suggested the fruit demonstration may have added confusion, reports the Mirror.

Amidst chuckles, Andi tossed aside the bananas as he continued outlining instructions for entering the contest.

As the piece neared its conclusion, co-host Charlotte Hawkins admitted: “I’m a little bit distracted by the bananas.”

Andi quipped back: “Yeah, I have it all the time people are distracted by my banana.” After a pause Adil added: “Let’s move on!”

Not everyone tuning in found the suggestive jest tasteful. One viewer voicing their disapproval on X wrote: “Andi Peters always goes too far with his sexual references on #gmb.”

There’s been a noticeable reshuffle on ITV this week, as viewers of BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World would have spotted contestant Jeff Brazier taking over the competition segment.

But by Friday, Andi reclaimed his spot in the studio, playfully jibing at his temporary replacement with: “That’s why you got Jeff, now I’m back Jeff’s like, ‘Oh he came back did he? ‘. Yeah, I did!”

The changes come while regular faces from the show enjoy their summer breaks. Laura Tobin, for instance, announced that she’ll be soaking up the sun on a 10-day holiday, with Des Coleman stepping in to cover.

Meanwhile, the main presenting roles have seen various stand-ins, following Susanna Reid’s announcement of her return coming this September.

GMB is on ITV weekdays at 6am
