GMP make 52 arrests in one day during huge day of action

Dozens of people have been arrested following a huge day of action by Greater Manchester Police. The force stopped over 100 vehicles and conducted seven warrants in a bid to stop neighbourhood crime.

Officers used traffic stops, warrants, and knife arches to conduct a major operation across Manchester, Bury, and Bolton on Thursday (November 14).

The day of action comes as part of Operation AVRO – a force wide initiative that delivers extra resources and specialist officers to a different district within Greater Manchester each month.

Chief Superintendent Helen Critchley, GMP lead for Neighbourhood crime said: “Yesterday’s activity was designed to give communities across Greater Manchester the confidence that GMP is committed to keeping people safe. We thank our partners who continue to support us in that effort.

“Victims of these types of crimes know and have told us what lasting harm they can cause: preventing that for as many as possible is our ambition.

“Officers across Greater Manchester will continue to tackle all types of neighbourhood crimes, through days of action patrols, proactive work, and more. If you have any issues in your area, your neighbourhood team will be there to listen to you and take action.”
