GoFundMe made for Fruita woman who survived horrific crash last week

FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) – A GoFundMe has been set up for a Fruita single mom who is lucky to be alive after a terrifying crash in Montrose on Jan. 7.

According to the GoFundMe, Skyla Jackson was ejected from her car after it slid on black ice. The vehicle rolled and landed on top of her. She was saved by three men who witnessed the crash and sprang into action to get Jackson out of the car.

“She’s had her first surgery to begin repairing her rib cage, chest and sternum where they had to insert a plate to reattach everything too,” Matthew Glass, Jackson’s cousin, wrote on GoFundMe. “She will have further surgeries to continue to repair the ribs around the back. Her heart, lungs, spleen and liver are still bruised. She had been on a ventilator for several days but is now able to breathe on her own.”

After she came out of sedation, Jackson shared about what happened to her, Glass wrote.

Jackson is a single parent to two young boys “and unfortunately when accidents happen bills multiply,” Glass wrote.

“Skyla has a long road to recovery ahead of her,” he wrote. “… Skyla needs all the prayers for healing she can get. If you are able to support her in a monetary fashion, our family would be so grateful.”
