The National Weather Service is forecasting a windy Monday for most of Southeast Washington.
It has issued a wind advisory for the Tri-Cities for 1 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Sustained wind speeds of 10 to 16 mph are forecast for the afternoon, increasing to 14 to 17 mph into Tuesday morning.
Gusts as high as 30 mph are possible throughout the Tri-Cities, with stronger gusts at higher elevations. Gusts of up to 40 mph are predicted just outside Kennewick at Interstate 82 and Highway 395.
A 50% chance of rain is forecast before the wind advisory, with less than a tenth of an inch expected.
As the storm clears the Tri-Cities the forecast over night low of 41 Monday night will drop below freezing to 30 on Tuesday night.
Highs in the mid 50s are forecast for Monday and Tuesday, dropping into the high 40s from Wednesday through Friday under a mostly sunny sky.
Travelers crossing the East Cascade Mountains of Washington can expect snow. Total snow accumulations above 4,000 feet could be 6 to 10 inches above 4,000 feet, according to the weather service.
A winter weather advisory is issued for Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass from 4 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday with periods of rain, snow and a rain and snow mix.
Gusts as high as 30 mph could blow snow and reduce visibility. However, little snow accumulation is expected.
