A scheduled lane closure will take place on Brownsboro Road in Jefferson County Wednesday to help finalize repair plans.
According to a news release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the right lane on U.S. 42, or Brownsboro Road, will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the bridge over Beargrass Creek between Mellwood and Story avenues. The entirety of the bridge may also close intermittently for crews to access equipment and closures are necessary to complete a bridge inspection before finalizing area repair plans.
Last fall, the bridge’s weight limit was reduced to 16 tons after a routine hands-on inspection. Engineers from KYTC reduced the weight “to safeguard the structure and prevent further damage” while repair plans are underway, intending to restore the bridge’s original weight limit.
