Jan. 18—ROCHESTER — Though its doors have been open for months, Honey Baked Ham Company held a grand opening Saturday at its location in Northwest Rochester.
Rochester recently welcomed its first Honey Baked Ham Company, a local sandwich shop with a lot more to it than just sandwiches. The store is located in Suite 200 at 3462 55th St. NW, in the Northwest Plaza near Sam’s Club. The company has been around since 1957 and specializes in pre-cooked meats, sides, and desserts.
The location opened in November 2024. On Saturday, the franchise celebrated by giving the first 50 guests free sandwiches for a year, as well as conducting raffles, giveaways, free samples and prizes throughout the day.

The grand opening event was delayed due to the holiday rush. Thanksgiving and Christmas are some of the busiest times of year for Honey Baked Ham Company and the location did really well on its first pass through those holidays.
“We had to wait until we knew that we were gonna be open before we could advertise, but we had a good holiday season for the Minnesota market,” said Matt Davis, Honey Baked franchisee in Rochester. “It turns out that Easter is bigger than Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we’re looking forward to a very strong Easter.”
Despite being open for only a couple months, Davis and his team are excited about this location. The planning for a Honey Baked Ham Company began over two years ago after Davis decided Rochester would be a good location for the franchise.
“It was July 4th, two years ago, I was up here looking for sites,” Davis said. “We finally found a location in spring of last year. Just took a while to get the lease, and then we started construction in September to get open in November.”

Honey Baked Ham Company has a good variety of options for everyone. It specializes in pre-made meats, but also has desserts and sides to go along with any entree. Davis is excited for people in the Rochester area to try all of the store’s meals and products.
“Our hams are the world’s best,” Davis said. “They’re smoked for 24 hours, tender, and hand glazed here in the store. Our turkeys are to die for. They’re also sliced and glazed, just like our hams. We also have sandwiches.”
Throughout the grand opening, guests were able to enter giveaway drawings, socialize with the team behind Honey Baked Ham Company and enjoy a 20% discount on everything. Dozens of people came to celebrate and try samples during the opening. This was also Honey Baked Ham Company’s first opportunity to be closely involved in the community.
“For decades, Honey Baked brand has been committed to providing our customers with delicious premium offerings to enjoy throughout the year, throughout the year, finding ways to park to be a part of our community,” Davis said. “Giving back is so important to us. … So with each store opening we like to partner with a deserving organization and for Rochester we picked the Ronald McDonald House.”

Davis and his team presented a representative for the Ronald McDonald House with a check for $2,000. Davis is especially excited to continue to partner and grow in the future as he and his team continue to learn about the community.
“It’s been great,” Davis said. “A lot of folks have come in. They were driving up the Twin Cities, so it saved a long drive. The feedback from the customers has been very positive.”
