Hot weather headed to Kitsap, Western Washington following the Fourth

Western Washington’s mild June that just concluded, not atypical for the season in the Pacific Northwest, is about to give way to summer in a major way.

The National Weather Service is predicting a rapid rise from the cloudy, 70-degree days the region has experienced in recent weeks, with a post-Independence Day forecast that could reach into the 90s in Kitsap County.

On Wednesday morning the NWS Seattle office issued a heat advisory that will take effect Friday, expected to last through Monday, calling for temperatures in the upper 80 and low 90s across Central and Western Washington. The advisory includes Kitsap County and Hood Canal region.

The Fourth of July is also predicted to be clear and sunny, though not quite as warm. Seasonable highs in the 70s, with overnight lows dipping into the 50s, are in the forecast.

The NWS advises that there is some risk for heat-related illness, and encourages people who are sensitive to heat to take precautions like staying hydrated and planning strenuous outdoor activity for early in the morning or in the evening.
