ST. LOUIS — A powerful winter storm dumped up to several inches of snow across the St. Louis metropolitan area Sunday and Monday, with western suburbs seeing the heaviest accumulation. Weldon Spring recorded the highest total at 12.5 inches, while Kirkwood measured 6 inches.
The official snowfall at St. Louis was 5.6 inches for Sunday, contributing to a record-breaking 1.87 inches of melted precipitation for the date. Areas across the Mississippi River saw significant amounts, with Edwardsville, Illinois reporting 11 inches.

Southeastern Missouri faced additional challenges, with communities near Farmington dealing with power outages after receiving an inch of snow on top of a layer of ice from Sunday’s freezing rain.
Dangerous cold will persist through Thursday, with daytime highs only reaching the low to mid-20s. Wind chills could plunge to -15 degrees during morning hours. Another storm system approaching Friday may bring additional light snow to the region.
