A convoy of around 150 vehicles from Germany’s armed forces – the Bundeswehr – is rolling through the country this weekend.
Germany’s 701st Armoured Engineer Battalion is being relocated for training exercises and will cover a distance of more than 450 kilometres, the Bundeswehr’s Operational Command said on Saturday.
The convoy will be divided into several smaller groups travelling at different times. These will be slow-moving convoys up to one kilometre long.
For security reasons, the exact route is not being disclosed. It started in the eastern city of Gera in Thuringia.
Motorists are being asked to keep their distance and not to drive between individual vehicles.
