CLAYTON, Mo. – One of the St. Louis region’s most iconic restaurants will soon close its doors.
Tony’s, a fine-dining restaurant in Clayton, is preparing to close its doors on Feb. 15, according to reports from St. Louis Magazine and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Owner James Bommarito announced plans to close doors on Friday. The restaurant has served the St. Louis community since 1946.
Tony’s was originally located in Downtown St. Louis for several decades before it relocated to Centene Plaza in Clayton in 2021.

The restaurant didn’t publicly state a specific reason behind the closure, but in a statement to St. Louis Magazine, the owner said the closure comes “with a mixture of gratitude and a heavy heart.”
The statement continued: “For more than seven decades, we have had the privilege of serving the St. Louis community, and we want to thank each of you for being part of our story.”
Tony’s currently employs around 50 workers.
