In a 911 call, a man admitted to shooting a woman inside of Kendall home, police say

A man called 911 and told the operator that he shot a woman inside her Kendall home early Sunday morning, police say.

At about 3:37 am, Miami-Dade police responded to the residence, located at the 6200 block of Southwest 109th Avenue. After entering through an open door, they found a woman with a gunshot wound, according to police.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the woman — who was in stable condition — to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. Sometime later, a man called 911 and confessed his involvement in the Kendall shooting.

“Through investigative means, it was determined the individual is related to the incident, and his custody was transferred to [MDPD,]” the agency said Sunday afternoon.

Police haven’t released the identity of the man and woman — nor their familial ties — as of Sunday. However, detectives from the department’s special victims and domestic violence units are investigating the shooting.
