Indiana National Guard captain from Indianapolis killed in Iraq

Indiana Army National Guard Capt. Eric Hart, 34, of Indianapolis died Saturday in Iraq as a result of what the Department of Defense called a non-combat related incident.

The incident is under investigation, according to a DoD statement.

Hart was assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion, 38th Infantry Division, Indiana National Guard, based in Indianapolis. He was in Iraq supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, according to the statement.

No additional details were immediately available.
