Israel says it has been fired upon from Lebanon, despite ceasefire

Israel has been fired upon again from its northern neighbour Lebanon for the first time since the beginning of the ceasefire with the Hezbollah militia, the Israeli military said on Monday.

The target of the Hezbollah attack was the Har Dov area directly on the Lebanese border, the military said. The projectiles hit open ground and there were no casualties.

Har Dov, also known as Shebaa Farms, is located in the far north of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Hezbollah confirmed the attack, saying it was meant as a warning to Israel, which had “repeatedly violated the ceasefire.”

Since the ceasefire came into force on Wednesday last week, Israel and Hezbollah have been accusing each other of violations.

Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli military repeatedly attacked targets from the air and on the ground in Lebanon on Monday. Israel said it was reacting to violations by the pro-Iranian militia.
