Israel strikes hit south Lebanon, killing at least 9 people

Israel’s army bombed targets near the coastal city of Tyre in Lebanon late Wednesday, killing at least nine people and wounding 65 others, the Health ministry said.

Rescue workers were still working to remove people from under the rubble in Maarkeh in the governorate of Tyre, the ministry said.

Further east, Israel’s ground troops continued their offensive and advanced towards the town of Kafrshuba in the border area, according to media reports.

This new incursion coincides with ongoing Israeli ground operations in the southern neighborhoods and eastern outskirts of Khiam, where there have been reports of heavy fighting between Israeli troops and Hezbollah militia fighters for days.

Hezbollah said it had attacked, among other things, a gathering of Israeli soldiers with rockets in the area.
