Bullseye was back on our TV screens on Sunday night (December 22) as the iconic darts gameshow returned to ITV for a Christmas special, but viewers picked up on an ‘annoying’ production feature.
The original show first launched in 1981 and ran for 14 years, presented by Jim Bowen. Although it briefly returned in 2006, ITV has now brought back a one-off Christmas special, presented by Freddie Flintoff.
The cricketing legend was joined by darts star Luke Littler and professional darts MC Richard Ashdown on the show. Bullseye sees three teams made up of an amateur darts player and a quiz enthusiast who compete to win a series of prizes.

The players work together to try and earn cash and prizes, with bonuses at stake if they hit bullseye. At the end of the show they can also get the chance to gamble their prizes to see if they can win the mystery reward hidden behind a screen in the studio – previous prizes included a speedboat.
Many viewers were delighted to see the return to Bullseye to TV screens. But some were quick to spot an ‘annoying’ production feature which they said was ‘too much’. Fans felt the show had too much ‘canned clapping and cheering’.
Taking to X, they shared their thoughts. X user @ActuallyClarex wrote: “The cheering is annoying and needs to stop #bullseye.” @Mucky1 said: “Oh shut up with all the screaming / clapping #Bullseye.”

@ShaunInBrum wrote: “#Bullseye looking great so far, the sound people need to ease off on the fake audience sounds, the oohh’s, wows, laughing and dubbed in clapping to match the real clapping in the studio is too much.” @KathyWilsons added: “No wonder this is on for an hour if the audience are going to clap absolutely everything that happens.”
@lyla95 posted: “#Bullseye Why have the audience been told to cheer and applaud wildly every single time something happens? How American.”
@SenorApple2014 said: “I know there’s a real audience there, but someone’s still too trigger-happy on that canned laughter button! #Bullseye.” @MissLionHeart wrote: “Clapping every five seconds must be exhausting”
