Emmerdale‘s Paddy Kirk, played by Dominic Brunt has been a beloved character on the popular ITV soap for over two decades.
The show wouldn’t be the same without the affable vet who has had numerous love interests over the years, from Rhona Goskirk, Chas Dingle and his on-off relationship with Mandy Dingle.
Despite his character’s reputation as a ladies’ man, in real life, Dominic is happily married to Joanne Mitchell, a successful actress herself.
Dominic and Joanne have been married since 2003 and Joanne, 49, has also appeared in several soap operas over the years.
While her husband is known for his long-standing role on Emmerdale, Joanne has starred in several award-winning shows and has even made multiple appearances on Emmerdale, reports the Daily Star.
Working alongside her husband, Joanne has portrayed four characters on the Dales so far, starting with Susan Davies, followed by a midwife named Yeo.
She then took on more challenging roles such as DS Karen Barnborough and most recently, Sandra Flaherty the mother and stepmother of Liv Flaherty and Aaron Dingle on the show.
The mum-of-two boasts an impressive acting portfolio, having graced the sets of Doctors, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road during her career. She’s also made appearances in Bad Girls, Heartbeat and the classic ’90s crime series A Touch Of Frost.
The couple is now parents to two children, but their journey hasn’t been without challenges. Their son Danny underwent a significant operation at just eight months old due to a heart condition.
In an emotional interview on This Morning, the actor shared with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that his son had “major heart surgery” at a tender age. He comforted viewers by saying, “he’s absolutely fine now.”
He confessed: “At the time it’s the most horrific thing to have to go through as a parent and obviously as a child, but he’s football-mad now, he’s completely fine.”
Despite the ordeal, the devoted father didn’t let the experience deter him. Instead, he used it to inform his performance on-screen, particularly during a 2018 storyline with Chas, portrayed by Lucy Pargeter.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
