Emmerdale actress Eden Taylor-Draper has opened up about her character’s gripping storyline, hinting at a dramatic endgame. Playing Belle Dingle, the star divulged details about her character uncovering evidence of stalking by her abusive partner Tom King. It appears Tom will err, indicating his imminent downfall.
In an episode to come, he inadvertently reveals he has access to Belle’s emails and laptop. This pivotal scene demonstrates Tom’s menacing capabilities, potentially triggering his undoing.
Belle is set for a significant choice this week, while a teaser for the following month unveils Tom possibly being outed. A violent confrontation ensues, with Tom receiving a beating and Belle seemingly sharing her ordeal with someone. Could this precipitate the revelation of his misconduct?, reports the Mirror.
Taylor-Draper spoke on future episodes, alluding to the nearing conclusion of the plotline. She expressed: “This is a new page in Belle’s life. It is a new chapter. It’s the start of Belle really taking matters into her own hands and finding strength and courage.”
Highlighting the significance of the storyline, she refrained from revealing the finale but conveyed her satisfaction with it. Reflecting on Belle’s awakening to Tom’s deviousness, she mentioned: “When he makes that snide comment and she realises he’s hacked into her laptop and I think that’s huge. Because obviously she knows what he’s capable of but this is on another level.”
“This is something that came up in the meetings we had with Refuge. This level of tech abuse is becoming more and more common in abusive relationships. So I think it’s brilliant that we show that. Just to show how they (the abuser) get into every part of your life with cyber stalking – so you are not safe.”
“So I think when Belle realises he’s done that, she has such a feeling what is the point in trying to fight this because there is no way I can win, he is always one step ahead.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
