Jacksonville-based LGBTQ Fund receives $400,000 in endowment gifts; Weaver among donors

The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida recently received $400,000 in new gifts for its LGBTQ Community Fund endowments.

The gifts will boost those endowments’ “annual grantmaking in perpetuity,” according to the Community Foundation. Endowments are permanent funds that grow through investments, with some of that growth used for annual grants.

Jacksonville philanthropist Delores Barr Weaver; Chad Labenz and foundation trustee Michael Meyers; Glenn and Michael Miller, who is the fund’s grants panel chairman; and an anonymous supporter each donated $100,000. They also challenged the community to help reach a $3 million goal.

The foundation has multiple endowments that support grants for LGBTQ causes, including one established by Weaver. They operate under the umbrella of the LGBTQ Community Fund, which has distributed about $1.1 million in grants to 28 nonprofits since its creation in 2014.
