After going through an extensive search following their separation from GM Joe Douglas, the Jets decided to take a shot on assistant GM Darren Mougey from the Denver Broncos.
Mougey held various positions during his journey through the organization, and he now comes to the Big Apple, where he’ll be tasked with helping turn around a squad that finished 5-12 last season and hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years.
One of his first tasks to tackle â the NFL Draft.
After another rough season, Gang Green currently holds the seventh overall pick in the 2025 edition of the draft.
Here’s what the experts have them doing…
QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
PROJECTED TRADE WITH JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS FOR NO. 5 PICK
In the wake of the Aaron Rodgers era error, the Jets have a talented roster without a quarterback. At the moment, the free-agent crop at the position is headlined by Sam Darnold. Donât think a Darnold-Jets reunion is on the table, so Gang Green leapfrogs the QB-needy Raiders to snag a signal-caller who certainly wouldnât shy away from the bright lights of Broadway. New York tabloids rejoice.
OT Will Campbell, LSU
A year ago, New York entered the offseason with a need at both offensive tackle spots. The Jets went the veteran route to fill both roles, then drafted Olu Fashanu in the first round. Fashanu and Campbell should be able to fill those starting spots in some capacity.
Jordan Plocher, Pro Football Focus
QB Cam Ward, Miami
With the Jets moving on from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, selecting Ward gives them a new signal-caller and face of the franchise. He’ll step into a situation with a top wide receiver already in place, while new head coach Aaron Glenn will look to build a strong defense to support the young quarterback.
TE Tyler Warren, Penn State
The Jets ranked second to last in rushing offense last season, and they desperately need another target in the passing game. Warren helps them improve in both of those areas.
OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas
Aaron Rodgers is gone, and no matter who replaces him, the Jets need to make serious improvements to their offensive line. Kelvin Banks Jr. is an excellent pass-blocker who could become a franchise cornerstone.
Joe DeLeone, Pro Football & Sports Network
CB Will Johnson, Michigan
Pairing Will Johnson with Sauce Gardner would create the best secondary in the NFL. Imagine two instinctual, physical corners playing opposite each other in Aaron Glennâs defense. With an already gifted front seven, Johnson would be the final piece to establishing this Jets defense as the best in the AFC East.
