Podcaster Joe Rogan and actor Mel Gibson blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) over recent wildfires in the Golden State.
“In 2019, I think Newsom said, ‘You know, I’m gonna take care of the forests and maintain the forests and do all that kinda stuff,’” Gibson said on Rogan’s podcast during a Thursday episode that was highlighted by Mediaite. “He didn’t do anything.”
Rogan agreed with Gibson: “On top [of] that, they cut the water off.”

“Yeah, that’s right, yeah,” Gibson responded. “It’s all funny. And then I think all our tax dollars probably went for Gavin’s hair gel. I don’t know but it’s like, you know, it’s sad, it’s like — the place is just on fire.”
“Well, the whole state is just so poorly managed. … It’s so frustrating and confusing, and then he gets on TV and pretends like everything’s great. ‘California’s the best, we have the best state, we have the most amazing economy,’ and like, you’re outta your f—ing mind dude, you’ve ruined this state,” Rogan cut in, mocking Newsom.
The multiple wildfires that have been burning in the Los Angeles area in the last few days have devastated the region. On Thursday, Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Deanne Criswell said on CNN that more than 1,000 structures have been destroyed or damaged from both the Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires.
Beyond the fires’ destruction, they have also resulted in a political feud between President-elect Trump and Newsom.

Trump criticized Newsom on Wednesday over the fires blazing throughout the Los Angeles area, with the president-elect saying the California governor should have signed a declaration to pump additional water through the Golden State to avert the situation.
“People are literally fleeing,” Newsom told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an interview later Wednesday. “People have lost their lives. Kids lost their schools, families completely torn asunder, churches burned down.”
“This guy wanted to politicize it,” he added, talking about Trump. “I have a lot of thoughts, and I know what I want to say. I won’t.”
