Sep. 17—LAGRANGE — The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a threat to Prairie Heights High School has been taken care of.
The threat was made known to the department on Saturday. Police launched an investigation, along with Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Prairie Heights Police Department, and the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office.
“Through collaborative efforts, law enforcement officials have successfully identified and addressed the juveniles responsible for making the threats,” a press release issued by the department on Tuesday said. “These juveniles have been expelled from Prairie Heights High School, and the criminal investigation remains active.”
While the department says there was no immediate threat to students and staff, law enforcement will maintain an increased police presence at the school as a precautionary measure.
“This enhanced security is intended to ensure the continued safety and well-being of the school community,” the press release stated. “We appreciate the vigilance and cooperation of all involved agencies and the support of the Prairie Heights community during this time.”
