PORTSMOUTH — Vice President Kamala Harris will hold a campaign event in the “Portsmouth area” on Wednesday, Sept. 4, her first appearance in New Hampshire since becoming the Democratic nominee for president.
“@KamalaHarris is coming to NH & she’ll be greeted by amazing energy! 17 Dem coordinated field offices to Trump’s 1 415% increase in attendees at events & a 480% increase in “volunteer shifts completed” since she announced her candidacy #NHPolitics,” Marisa Nahem, communications director for the Harris campaign in New Hampshire, posted on X.
An email to campaign supporters said the event will take place in the afternoon in the greater Portsmouth area but did not disclose the exact location or time Harris will speak, nor the focus or format of the event.
Harris drew an overflow crowd to Portsmouth’s South Church on Feb. 19, 2019, as a candidate in the New Hampshire presidential primary but dropped out of the contest in December of that year.
Harris’s husband, Douglas Emhoff, visited New Hampshire on July 31 to headline a rally for reproductive freedom.
Harris leads former president Donald Trump in the two latest New Hampshire polls. A poll from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center released Aug. 21 showed Harris leading Trump 50% to 43%. An Aug. 19 poll by Saint Anselm College Survey Center at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics had her up 51% to 43%.
