Katie Price has revealed she’s devastated after her council refused to fund her son Harvey’s specialist college fees.
The former glamour model’s eldest child had been attending a £350,000-a-year residential college in Gloucestershire, but Katie was forced to withdraw him earlier this year amid her bankruptcy woes.
Now the star has claimed West Sussex County Council decided 22-year-old Harvey has “no healthcare issues” and won’t pay the fees.
The 46-year-old star also revealed that an assessment of Harvey, who has genetic disorder Prader-Willi syndrome, deemed he only needed “social care”.
“The socials came back yesterday, the people who do the funding, and they believe by seeing Harvey that Harvey has no healthcare issues,” she said on The Katie Price Show. “That he only needs social care. They think he has no health problems so they’re not funding, and want him to live in a social care place.”
Harvey is also autistic, partially blind, has septo-optic dysplasia and learning disabilities.
Katie also revealed her son’s social worker and doctors have insisted she should appeal the decision and fear the decision could have a severe impact on his health.
“He has a passport for the hospital, he’s on medicine to keep him alive, he’s cortisol deficient so can go into adrenaline crisis at any time,” she added.
“If he’s ill he ends up in hospital, what are they on about? Anyone out there if you’re in a situation like me, like everyone knows Harvey has healthcare issues, it’s been documented and I’ve done documentaries on it, but they just think it’s behaviour.”
Harvey had attended the National Star College, near Cheltenham, since 2021.
West Sussex County Council told MailOnline: “This was a decision taken by NHS Gloucestershire.”
