One person is dead following a kayaking incident on Hammond Lake in Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
Around 9 a.m. Saturday, multiple fire departments were dispatched to Ives Run Lane at the Tioga-Hammond Lakes Recreation Area for a report of a missing kayaker, according to the Middlebury Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Initial reports indicated the missing individual was possibly trapped underwater. In addition to Tioga County fire departments, several agencies from Steuben County and Lycoming County, including drones and dive teams, were called in to assist with the search.
After about seven hours of searching, crews located the body of the kayaker. The victim’s name has not been released, and no further information about the incident is available at this time.
In addition to the Middlebury Township Volunteer Fire Department, other agencies that assisted at the scene included the Wellsboro, Tioga and Lawrenceville fire departments, Steuben County dive team, Clinton Township dive team, Laurel Mountain K-9 and the Mansfield Hose Co.

The recreation area is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The incident is being investigated by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Northcentral Region office.
