Enough of the blame game
According to a search of U.S. population by ethnic group, (African) Americans are 12.1% and Latinos are 19%. Therefore, breaking those numbers down by sex makes men a much smaller demographic. Of those not all voted for a single presidential candidate. Every television network I have listened to this morning has placed some degree of blame on the men of these two groups as a reason the Democrats lost.
There is one demographic in the U.S., if acting monolithically, capable of controlling a presidential election and that group is white women. No one should expect 100 percent of any group to vote as one so we should stop the parsing and accept the vote as it comes in. Each of us hears a candidate and makes his or her assessment as to who aligns best with the values they possess and votes accordingly.
As for Tuesday’s election, all I can say is Donnie won twice, against a woman twice, and there is one conclusion: America does not want a woman president because women could elect one if they chose to. Today is too late to do anything about an election that has ended, and our time is better spent devising methods of communicating ideas for future campaigns. Sorry if I raved a little bit.

Weigh in: What would you like to see happen next?
In a democracy, voters get the leaders they want, and America has chosen Donald Trump. Oklahoma voters have chosen members of the state Legislature to represent them.
What’s next?
The Oklahoman is interested in hearing what you would like to see in the months ahead. Trump will take office in January. The Legislature will be back in session in February.
What are your priorities?
On the national level, what are your expectations for a second Trump presidency? What challenges should the president and Congress put first on their priority list?
We welcome your letters and guest columns.
On the state level, what are your thoughts on more tax cuts? More money appropriated to improve prison conditions, provide more support for health and mental health care agencies, improve public schools?
