Levelland police ask for public help with information about man shot, killed in October

Levelland police are asking the public once more for help in solving a case involving a man found dead last month along the side of a road.

According to a statement from the City of Levelland, Gregorio Nathaniel Mendieta was found in the middle of the roadway in the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 20, where he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Mendieta was found unresponsive and face down in the middle of the 1700 block of Wilson Street with a single gunshot wound.

According to the city, investigators have so far not uncovered a motive for the shooting; however, preliminary information indicates that Mendieta was conversing with an unknown individual in a pickup truck.

Detectives are seeking information regarding the identity of this individual.

The city urges anyone with any information about this case to call the Levelland Police Department at 806-894-6164.
